Parabens and your skin

Today I am going to talk about parabens and skin care. Even   though this is my blog, I must always give credit where credit is due, so I will tell you that my good friend and fellow esthetician,  Jessie , is the person who put together the information on our brochures for skin care.

We at our office carry a full line of physician's strength skin care products

WHY PHYSICIAN'S STRENGTH FORMULA?
This means that we are required to have a physician on staff due to the efficacy of  the products.  Only skin care professionals holding the required license are able to offer these highly effective products.

WHY PARABEN FREE?
Parabens are the most commonly used preservatives in personal care  products in the USA. Clinical studies have shown parabens present in breast cancer tissue.  Parabens are also known to convert to estrogen. In 2003, the European Union banned the use of these chemicals in Europe because of the dangers believed to be associated with parabens.

WHICH PRODUCTS SHOULD CONCERN YOU THE MOST?
-Cosmetics
-Facial Products
-Body Lotions
Products that are washed on and off the skin appear to be of the least concern as they are in contact with the skin for such a short period of time. However, products that are left on the skin such as skin care products are considered to be of greater concern.  The skin is the largest organ of the body and we are now aware of how easily things are absorbed and effect our body. When we consider such things as birth control which is now available through a patch and absorbs through the skin we realize that parabens are also easily absorbed into the body via the same route.  This is why we recommend paraben-free products for the face and body.

Check your labels. any ingredients ending in  the suffix "paraben" is something you really don't want on or in your body.
